The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. In 2017, during the height of popularity for Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish were included in the Top 100. The year 2020 will see there will be 41 songs within this genre. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna joined forces with Maluma to record Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about its inclination towards mainstream but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and various other genres was a typical method.
